Plan A: Run Golf till his death.
Plan B: Replace Golf with super cool 1972 Honda and use only as daily commuter.
Plan C: Replace Golf with reliable car...and selfishly keep S.C.Honda as toy.Plan C continued:
The generation of vehicles on the road leaves a lot to be desired in fuel efficiency (for my fellow greenies worried about burning fossil fuels and such), and, from what I read, the engineering world will show a lot of progress in the next 5-10 years. I don't think I can wait for those amazing advancements though - the golf is on his way out. My beautiful honda isn't ready to hold his place for a few years, so my current considerations for his official replacement are below:
Aptera 2 - 300 mpg

Unfortunately, only sold in Cali...and I may not be comfortable enough in my dork shorts for this dream.
Honda Insight - 60 to 70 mpg

Unfortunately, I only enjoy the older body style and I'm not willing to risk a used car again.
Toyota/Scion IQ - Currently getting 60mpg in Europe

http://www.scion.com/#conceptCars_iq
Unfortunately, only sold in the ridiculous radioactive color...and well, still just a concept w/predicted release of 2010.
Mini Cooper - 37mpg

Finally, so horribly yuppie and expensive, I am unfortunately leaning towards a mini cooper. In Seattle, they're as prominent as mosquitoes in MN...and yeah, SO SO yuppie. I don't want to buy into that image, but the combination of fuel efficiency, wee size, availability, and resell value are hard to beat.
